With initial qualifying finalised, the Euro 2024 draw for the event in Germany next summer is ready to take place. While there are still three spots left to be determined, which will be sorted via the playoffs next March, 21 of the teams are locked in and ready to learn their fate. Ahead of the Euro 2024 draw, here is everything that you need to know. When is the Euro 2024 draw taking place? The Euro 2024 group stage draw is set to take place on Saturday, 2 December in Hamburg, Germany. The draw is set to “officially” begin at 12:00 CET but as with most UEFA draws, there is expected to be some build-up before the balls are finally picked out of the bowls.
How are the Euro 2024 draw groups sorted?
There will be 24 teams drawn in total, with six groups of four in the tournament. Each team in every group will be taken from four different pots.
The seedings for the Euro 2024 draw are:
Pot 1: Germany, England, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, France
Pot 2: Hungary, Turkey, Denmark, Romania, Albania, Austria
Pot 3: Netherlands, Scotland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Czech Republic
Each team will play each other group opponent once with the top two qualifying from each group. The four best third-placed teams will also qualify from the group stages with the tournament then becoming a straight knockout competition with 16 teams. Who can still qualify for Euro 2024?
The Euro 2024 playoff tournament will decide the final three spots in finals next summer. There are 12 teams taking part in the playoffs, all of whom have it to this point courtesy of their performances in the UEFA Nations League.
To make matters more confusing, the playoffs have been split into three different mini-tournaments.
They are as follows:
Path A: Semi-final 1: Wales vs Finland
Semi-final 2: Poland vs Estonia
Final: Winner of SF1 vs SF2
Path B: Semi-final 1: Bosnia & Herzegovina vs Ukraine
Semi-final 2: Israel vs Iceland
Final: Winner of of SF1 vs SF2
Path C: Semi-final 1: Georgia vs Luxembourg
Semi-final 2: Greece vs Kazakhstan
Final: Winner of SF1 vs SF2
The three playoff wins have already been placed in pot three so all 12 teams will know their hypothetical fate when the group stage draw takes place on Saturday.
Where are the Euro 2024 venues? Euro 2024 is being held in Germany, with 10 stadiums and cities being used across the country. Berlin's Olympiastadion will host the final which is set to take place on Sunday, 14th July. Germany's second-biggest stadium, the Allianz Arena will host the first match of the tournament, which is set to take place on Friday 14th June.
